Since September 2019, Kelly is proud to be the second generation CEO of MJ Care, the company she grew up alongside, having seen resonant leadership, purpose and vision through her mother for over 40 years. Kelly knows that for her mother, founder Mary Van Lare, leadership was a walk in her faith, supporting her associates and helping them to pursue their personal callings. She recognizes that what is now called "compassionate coaching" and "employee empowerment" describes what Mary always called “ministering”. Kelly and the rest of the leadership team are focused on the same core values that anchored our mission in 1977. There’s a reason MJ Care can boast of so much experience and tenure. We take care of our associates, and in turn, our associates can focus on providing the highest standard of patient care. Prior to joining MJ Care, Kelly enjoyed a career in patient care as a Certified Prosthetist-Orthotist. Kelly studied Physical Therapy at Boston University, where she obtained a BS in Health Studies (2001) but fell in love with Prosthetics and Orthotics as a PT student helping an Orthotist fit a Reciprocating Gait Orthosis (RGO) and watching a child run on his own for the first time. She holds a second BS in Prosthetics & Orthotics from the University of Washington (2005).
Jim has recently joined MJ Care as their CFO and has over 30 years of accounting and financial management experience. Jim is responsible for corporate finance, including treasury, accounting, procurement and IT activities. Prior to joining MJ Care, Jim held senior management and leadership positions in financial management and served as CFO for a number of healthcare organizations. His focus is on customer service, continuous improvement and teamwork, and he has enjoyed being a member of a number of great management teams throughout his career. Jim is a CPA and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Accounting and an MBA in Accounting/Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Jane is an Occupational Therapist with 40 years of experience in the long-term care setting. She has worked for both in-house and contract therapy companies. Jane has also worked as a consultant to skilled nursing facilities, offering direction for clinical and operational outcomes. Jane is the Administrator of the MJ Care Rehab Agency. She is responsible for the company’s compliance to maintain a Rehab Agency license. This responsibility includes policy and procedure development, training and monitoring compliance. In Jane’s role as Director of Business and Program Development she is actively developing new business lines and partnerships. MJ Care offers a variety of business lines and we plan to expand to offer even more in the future.
Rick comes to MJ Care with over twenty-five years of leadership in the post-acute healthcare field. He has lead organizations in the governmental, not-for-profit and for-profit sectors including behavioral health services, school therapy, long-term care, senior housing and outpatient clinics. As president of MJ Care, Rick is responsible for the daily operations of the company and guiding the future growth and direction of MJ Care. Prior to joining MJ Care, Rick was the President and CEO of a national behavioral healthcare organization and CEO of a continuing care retirement community. A licensed nursing home administrator, he holds a bachelor degree in health care administration from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a Master’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Lisa Mueller, DPT, serves MJ Care as the Vice President of Operations, leading the School Therapy Staffing and School Billing teams. She is also responsible for policies and procedures, HIPAA, Compliance and process improvement. Lisa has a wide range of experience ranging from surgery and ICU, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient orthopedics and primary care settings. She knows the journey each patient takes on their way to health and has an unwavering commitment to excellent patient care. She is a physical therapist and holds a Doctorate of Physical Therapy Degree and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish from Marquette University.
Rachael is a Human Resources professional with more than 7 years of experience. Providing strategic leadership through an integrated, collaborative approach. Rachael’s professional background started in an emergency medicine group practice. During her tenure in human resources, she has enhanced the relationship between company Executives with the human resources department to support company goals and values. In partnership with associates and management, Rachael aligns business objectives to formulate partnerships across the organization delivering value-added service to management and associates. Rachael seeks to use the most scientific HR metrics to form hypotheses about the best talent acquisition, talent retention, and talent development techniques to provide innovative benefit programs and services to associates, candidates, and customers. Rachael strategically manages HR as a business, to scale faster through technology and simplified process to reinvent HR standards. Rachael is a Society for Human Resources Professional that holds a bachelor’s in human resources management from Concordia University of Wisconsin. She is an associate advocate that encourages a positive culture driven from MJ Care’s core values and goals.
